Festa Mobile (Italy)Diario di Viaggio della Festa Mobile (1973)Genres: progressive pop, progressive rock, jazz rockThis is Italian progressive rock with a large dose of jazz incorporated. Never as jazzy as Arte e Mestieri and never as progressive as, say, Uovo di Colombo, but somewhere in between. They play the usual instruments, they have a fairly good singer in the typical Italian style and some fine crafted moments (although not that many) but is overall way too boring for my taste.
Besides being sometimes too jazzy for me they also have the unfortunate bad habit of bursting out in really embarrassing sweetness of the Italian kind, in other words a little Julio Iglesias warning. Of the five songs (in under thirty minutes) only “La Corte di Hon, with splendid spinetta, qualifies as a good or fully enjoyable track. The rest is either decent or downright awful.
So this is another of those examples of Italian progressive not standing up to the expectations, but those into the more jazzy side of progressive rock might find some pleasure on it.
