Goblin (Italy)Suspiria (1977)Genres: dark progressive, psychedelic rock, soundtrack“Suspiria” is the soundtrack of Dario Argento’s 70s horror movie with the same name. The title track starts with the simple but brilliant main theme, played with celesta and bells, and whispering voices that sound really creepy. Then comes a more up-tempo middle part dominated by synth and a manic voice that screams/hisses “witch” over and over, before the main theme is reprised. A great and scary track that really enhances some scenes in the movie (like the nightmarish scene where the protagonist walks in a hallway and is given the evil eye by a witch).
Unfortunately, the rest of the album is made up of sound collages of dated synth effects and jazz influenced noodling, that make sense only when watching the movie.
Buy the movie instead.

I totally agree with the other reviewer; the music suits the movie just fine but on its own only ”Suspiria – Intro” manages to survive. An eerier piece of music is hard to find. The rest of the songs are more like background music when taken from their proper context.
The movie is a real treat and the Goblin soundtrack comes to its right when watching it and I suggest buying the movie over buying just the soundtrack.
