This is an E.P. consisting of two tracks (which means about half an hour of music). “Moya” starts with a low, monotonous and sinister sound, over which violins gradually take command. From there Godspeed performs their patented build-up where droning violins and guitars and subtle percussion gradually turn into screaming strings and guitar and heavy drumming for the violent conclusion. Except that the violent conclusion isn’t the conclusion. After the build-up and “violence” a beautiful violin theme concludes the track in a way that is, well, perfect. I am close to bursting into tears every time I arrive at the conclusion, it is that good (or I am that wimpy).

The second track is basically an interview with a slightly insane individualist who speaks his mind while the band performs an atmospheric, string dominated soundtrack. The interview concept works fine and the music is good, even though it never reaches the standards of the first track. I don’t know what Godspeed wants to say with the interview, but I get the feeling that they want to point out the tragic fact that the only vibrant resistance to a corrupt government (and this was before George W. Bush became president!) is the paranoid lunatics to the right of the right wing.

Anyhow, a great album.
