Wind (Germany)Morning (1972)Genres: rock, progressive rockIt starts off pretty good with “Morning Song” but then comes the dreadful “The Princess and the Minstrel” with lyrics that would make Surprise jealous. But to Wind’s defence I suspect they did the song without pretensions; but it’s an awful song anyway. Much mellotron are used to transform Wind’s vision into music. A major problem with this album is that I don’t appreciate the singer. The mellotron dominated rock music isn’t that good either. “Carnival” is one exception but otherwise there isn’t much to rejoice over. Besides the mellotron dominated progressive rock songs with much acoustic guitar there’s some more boogie or blues based rockers in style with something from Jane’s “III” or like Family.
“Morning” sometimes sounds almost like a sequel to Fire’s “The Magic Shoemaker” and that’s not a good thing!
